01/01/2007 COX Users Unable To Send E-Mail

If you have a connection with COX and are unable to send email out through our mail server, you will need to change to COX's outbound mail server. Apparently, COX has changed the way mail is handled through their network. In fact, they are actually preventing you from sending mail through us.

In order to fix this, you will need to open up your mail program and change your Outgoing SMTP mail server to smtp.west.cox.net or smarthost.coxmail.com.

If you are still having problems, please feel free to contact us.

01/01/2007 Virus-Generated Fake E-mails

A new worm, identified as "W32/Bagle.j@MM", is propagating through Windows systems via e-mail. It harvests e-mail addresses from archives and/or address books on infected systems, and generates vaguely plausible forged e-mails to other users based on the domain names it finds in those email addresses. The forged emails contain a password-protected ZIP file which is used to propagate the infection, as well as a variety of text in the body which is designed to look like a legitimate notification from, for example, "netlojix.com". Needless to say, we are not sending out any such notifications, and we recommend that no user should ever run an attachment received via e-mail.

More details on this worm are available at http://vil.nai.com/vil/content/v_101071.htm

If you receive an email like the one below, please delete it immediately:
