Sony Electronics e-Solutions Company had several specific requirements for re-launching Sony's latest Musiclub website. One of Sony's biggest challenges was in finding an outsourced team that could work quickly and effectively with their own. Specifically, Sony needed a new engineering and hosting solution for a database-driven website that would offer music downloads, membership, personalized content, real-time news feeds, affiliate marketing features and back-end administration functionality for regularly updating and tracking the site.
The Silicon Beach Westnet team developed and engineered the Musiclub website and extranet to serve thousands of registered members in addition to helping Sony personnel manage membership information, news feeds, musical tracks, image uploads, banners, and editorial updates to the website. The managed hosting solution we have provided is completely scalable in terms of servers, security, bandwidth and storage. The rapid application development of front-end and back-end functionality paired with a full hosting solution enabled the successful launch of the website within the agreed upon budget.
We utilized XML to translate database feeds pulled from a variety of third party resources. Taking full advantage of widely supported rapid application development tools, the Sony Musiclub website was built with JSP on a Sun Solaris OS working with an Oracle database.
